I have lots of memories and many things I have made to my name, starting with doll outfits, I was not a Barbie doll girl, but a Sindy doll kinda child. There were holiday outfits, wedding dresses and workwear. She was a busy girl.
I can’t remember exactly the first outfit I made for myself but I remember making a lovely corduroy waistcoat and front kick pleat skirt, all lined. It was a nice shade of rust. It is very similar to this pattern I found online I’m not sure the name or number of this pattern, but if I find it I will link it down below.

I think the pattern came from a subscription set of magazine books ‘Stitch by stitch’ I also made a cream double breasted jacket, unlined. I don’t think I ever wore that one.
But lately I have made two tops with this free pattern from Prima magazine that I have had for ages.

This first one, I can’t recall where I bought the fabric, but when I made the top I felt that I needed some trim for the neckline, so on a charity shop haul I found an old top, which I didn’t like, but I bought it for this trim, It is a good way of buying trims, as they can be very expensive by the metre. I love it, although a bit heavy.
My second top from this pattern I made out of a skirt that I had never worn. I did want the stripes to go the other way, but I didn’t have enough fabric, I used a scrap of black from my stash, to make the interfacing and add length, the first top does not have interfacing.

Also lately I started to take part in the challenges that are set every year, My first one was #makenine, I chose this pattern but I bought the wrong fabric and the size was all wrong for me, but this is what I restyled it as this, I didn’t use a pattern, I just tried to salvage a top from my sorry state of a garment.
I then took part in the #cosycardiechallenge, so I chose the Blackwood PDF pattern by Helen’s closet super easy to make, but again, I made the wrong size, so it was gifted to a friend who is much taller than me and it fit her perfectly.
My next Challenge was #swapsharesew which was very interesting, hosted by @Loopymabels _closet and @Roseysewmodernvintage
You were teamed up with someone to share haberdashery, they also chose out of three patterns and fabric that you presented them with and that was the garment you had to make and use the gifted haberdashery on.
Some of you will have taken part or at least heard about it. And this is the fabric, from Minerva crafts, It is a wool, double sided wool blend @ £6.99 Per Metre and this was the pattern chosen from my stash. Another Prima free pattern. I will insert a photo of me wearing my coat Anyway I won a prize for the best use of the gifted notions, these are what I was gifted and this is the finished result and this is my prize a lovely pin broach, that I chose from…@sew me sunshine
That has given me the confidence to pursue my dream of working in fashion making and craft making full time.

I am busy now with the #sewmystyle challenge, January I made the ‘cortney bodysuit.’ by Rad Patterns
The fabric was Stretch Jersey from Minerva Crafts £2.99 per meter and I trimmed the edges with a bought lilac bia binding.
This make was easy to do and is so comfortable to wear, I can not wait to make another.
BUT, I have to say my latest ‘fail’ if you can call it that, was February’s MMC, I chose the Illford jacket, but I just have not had time to sew it. My excuse is I have been busy setting up this shiney new YouTube chanel.
ANYWAY
It would be nice to hear of your challenge makes and fails.
