Sewing Top5 of 2019-Sewcialists

What is the Sewcialists Sewing Top 5 ?

It’s a chance to look back at your year of sewing and celebrate! Before we enter into another year of sewing, it gives us time to think back on what worked or didn’t. What else you’ve accomplished, and where you want to go next. The point of Top 5 is to check in with ourselves about our sewing, and have a bit of fun celebrating how far we’ve come, in our personal journey. This is my account of my Top 5, well not always 5 but here you go:-

Top 5 Hits:

The 5 most worn or most loved makes from 2019.

  1. Well I have to admit, I have only recently gotten my sewing mojo back, after a challenge I joined in with on Instagram. I made a coat and lined it, I surprised myself after years of not touching my sewing machine, how well I did and how all my knowledge just came flooding back.

2) I also made a lovely Blackwood cardie, it came out really well 🙂

3) I had made a little batwing top by recycling a skirt I liked, this is the second time I have used this pattern. Which was my holiday top.

5)A pair of really colourful cushion covers out of some retro IKEA fabric. They look great !

Top 5 Misses:

Not everything works out, so this is my chance to share the 5 projects that didn’t turn out, never got worn, were accidentally destroyed in the wash, or were otherwise less successful!

  1. Well again I think I will have to repeat some of the list above as the cardigan was way too big for me so I gave it to a friend who is much taller and fit her great.

2) I joined in with another challenge, and after cutting out the wrong size , I gave up, not only on the top, but on the whole challenge!

3) The holiday top although I made it well, I added some beading around the neckline and its too heavy..I should take it off, but I like the look of it.

4) I decide to self draft a top which I owned , but the fabric was so the wrong choice , it is still in bits.

5) I bought some lovely fabric on line, to make another cardigan and was so disappointed when it arrived as it was totally unsuitable.
