Day Trip to Denmark

A Day Trip to Denmark on a lovely sunny day in Helsingborg,Sweden, where I was working for three months on a project for IKEA.

My co-worker Brynia, ( who was from Iceland) and I decided that, this was the weekend to visit a well known art gallery in Denmark ( as confirmed by Brynia,) so I bowed to her knowledge, and was happy for a trip out. Brynia had actually visited the ‘Louisiana Gallery’ before and knew how to get there.

It was a game of trains, boats and planes, which I loved, so off we set.

sorry do not know who this dude is :-/

Our apartments was about a five minute walk from the ferry terminal, where we bought our tickets, went through very relaxed customs and boarded the ferry.

The crossing was only 20 minutes to Helsingor, and the ferry is quite small and usually very busy due to the fact beer is much cheaper in Denmark than in Sweden, so people would go back and forward for creates of beer, customs seem to turn a blind eye to this, but nothing to much to do on board, there was a bar, very expensive and a very small shop and a smoking lounge.

After departing from the ferry we went down a little street in Helsingor and found a cute and trendy coffee shop, just to boost our energy.

The same street apparently was where people went for their cheap booze.

The amount of cans and bottles that people were prepared to take back was amazing, with creates strapped to trolleys and bicycles.

The coffee shop was very relaxed with good music and a nice ambiance and I could have stayed there all day, but we had to make a move to find the bus station, which was not far.

We then had a 20 minute bus trip to the train station, which was very picturesque, trundling through small streets of gorgeous greenery and beautiful houses, all very clean and fresh.

There was a little bit of confusion when we arrived at the train station, but after asking a few people we found our way. Another 20 mins on the train and we arrived at our destination, or was it ? At the train stationBus388Lyngby St.  Brynia remembered the way ,she thought, but I thought we had gotten off at the wrong stop, as to me it seemed like we were in the middle of a country housing estate, with a few local shops ?

But off we trekked, after asking more people if we were in the right direction. It seemed to take forever to find the Gallery, I was so exhausted by the time we got there.

It was certainly a beautiful place and after some refreshments, a healthy salad, in a very trendy and busy restaurant, Brynia remarked on a lady in the queue, admiring her style for her age and grey wedge hair cut. I don’t know why I remember this, but it sticks vividly in my mind.

After we had eaten we  set off to look around the exhibition.

There were many installations and things to see, a lovely but again expensive gift shop, with some lovely leather goods. I had to buy something,as a keepsake, but felt an expensive gift was not quite right , so I bought a small cat ornament, which I loved. It had a small chip out of its ear. They did not have a replacement, so we were given 10% off.

Before returning home we sat in the garden cafe with a coffee admiring the views.

A very exhausting but wonderful day .
