WHY/2020 ?

Recently, like most people I would think these days of lockdown, I have been looking for some inspiration, mainly of a spiritual kind. What is my purpose now ? I l’ve alone and the only thing that keeps me going is my sewing, love of crafts, my past travel/career and of course family memories.

But no matter what you have been through, or are going through, we all need hope.

I have always been a positive thinking person and have read a lot of self help books, I have like most people had my fair share of tragedy as well. My thought always is, if you wake up with a day ahead, you have to do something, so why not make that something good ?

Apart from all my artsy hobbies, I am a big fan of YouTube, I love the passion people bring from their own homes and even more now, in days of lockdown, we are all looking for somewhere to express ourselves. I have many times, taken a video on my phone, uploaded it to my channel ( Yes I got that far ) only to take it down after an hour of anguish. Will it be good enough ? Will people laugh at me ? Hasn’t this been done before, Is there too many people covering this subject already ?

One of my favorite YouTubers is Marie Forlio She is such an uplifting and joyful person to watch, with great advice. I revisited a past video ( link below ) that I had watched before. It featured an American writer called Elizabeth Gilbert, who wrote the great book , ‘eat,pray,love’ and a book called ‘Big Magic’ (apart from others) which I actually had downloaded on Audible,but never listened to.

So Marie and Elizabeth were discussing Big Magic, a book about the creative gem within us and how we must use it .

It struck such a chord with me as it was exactly how I felt about my YouTube channel and all the statements I had talked about before, was it good enough etc. and you know what ? It doesn’t matter ! Just get it out your system, put it out there ! It is such a short life to keep all that creativity in, so just let go ! What the F*** ! Is a humble offering that might not be quite right, better than nothing at all ? What have you got to lose ?

So as I dive in, I may smash my face on the floor, or I might fly….watch this space 🙂
