Fashion on the street this winter will include combat boots, gold chains, and floor-sweeping coats that define a season melding street with glamour. So wrap up warm with your winter makes.
Going into a new season doesn’t call for a total wardrobe overhaul. But it is the perfect time to reassess. What is working in your closet, what makes you feel good, and what could be multi functional. It’s also a time to decide which trends resonate with you.
Are you the sort of person who prefers kick-ass boots? Are you ready for a bucket hat, a floor-sweeping coat, a solid-gold chain-link necklace?
Though not mutually exclusive, the Bermuda short and bucket hat trends honor each other., this season. Take your oversize, long shorts in black leather and your cool-kid bucket hat in a leopard print, and call it a chic day. So buckle up, because this season, it’s all about the motorcycle boot.

Footwear with a little more attitude, is what is needed this winter. Whether streamlined and simple, or knee-high, the message is clear: We’re not here to play.
Also cold weather doesn’t have to mean sweatpants and hoodies. Don’t sacrifice comfort for style this winter with our list of winter dress patterns that are perfect for pairing with boots and tights.
There are so many winter dress patterns, this season, that can be made in a lightweight fabric that you can comfortably layer with cardigans and sweaters, as well as making dresses with long sleeves and snuggly sweater dresses so that your winter wardrobe is completely planned out!

A great book to treat yourself to, with lots fg great patterns, advice for those who do not have time to sew ! is ‘Make It Simple’ by TILLY AND THE BUTTONS will be out in February 2020, published by Quadrille (Hardie Grant). You can order it now from Amazon.
If you cannot wait until then, there is great pattern that has been doing the rounds from TILLY AND THE BUTTONS is the INDIGO TOP and DRESS. You buy on their website now.
It is cute, comfy and effortlessly stylish, the Indigo smock has no fiddly fastenings so you can throw it on and go. Sew it with classic gathered seams or elevate it to a stand-out piece in your wardrobe with the pretty exposed frill seam.
Another great pattern on my sewing list for the winter is THE EMMA DRESS BY SEW OVER IT. The Emma Dress is your perfect everyday fit and flare knit dress. Comfy yet flattering, it features a form-fitting princess-seamed bodice with lovely round neckline, and a pretty pleated skirt. The set-in sleeves are a classic 3/4-length and the dress closes with an invisible zip in the centre back seam.

Recommend medium weight knit fabrics, such as ponte di Roma, so I am going to choose a Ponte Roma Knit fabric from Minerva Crafts £9.99 per meter in Ivory & Black.

This ponte roma jersey knit has a beautifully soft finish and is an excellent quality fabric. Ponte roma is an easy jersey to sew with so perfect for beginners to knits. This fabric could be used to sew tops, skirts, pants, dresses, cardigans and more!
